Frostrail release date: Early Access lands in Q4 2026 with no exact day or price. Confirmed timeline, launch features and what is still unknown.
Frostrail Release Date and Early Access Plan
Quick answer: Frostrail launches into Steam Early Access in Q4 2026. No day, no price and no 1.0 date has been announced. The game is Windows-only at launch, runs on Unreal Engine 5, and supports solo or four-player online co-op. A free demo ran during Steam Next Fest, October 19-26, 2026.
The release window comes from the Steam store page (release date field: "Q4 2026") and FakeFish's official updates. We do not publish a guessed date.

Is the demo still playable?
The demo was tied to Steam Next Fest and the developers' own announcement said it runs until October 26, 2026. After that window it may be delisted, or it may stay up as a permanent demo — that has not been confirmed either way.
If you are reading this after October 26, check the Steam page's demo section before assuming you can still download it. The demo walkthrough remains useful as a preview of the first hour.
What to do before Early Access
- Wishlist the game on Steam. Wishlists are the metric the developers cite (570,000 at the time of writing), and they drive launch visibility.
- Play the demo if it is still up and test your PC against the system requirements.
- Line up a co-op group. Four players with assigned roles is the intended experience; see co-op roles.
- Learn the heat and fuel loop now. It is the one system that will not change much, and it is the one that kills new players. Start with Eden Engine upkeep.
- Do not buy a "complete edition" or pre-order from a reseller. No price exists yet, so no legitimate pre-order exists either.
Will Early Access be worth it at launch?
Honest assessment from the demo: the core loop is already coherent. You drive a train, you keep it warm, you leave it to loot, you come back and spend the loot on the train. Weapons are thin (one firearm), enemy variety is thin (one type), and the upgrade tree does not exist yet.
What makes it promising is that the deepening systems are announced, not hoped for: engine upgrades, carriages, relics, dungeon reworks and train defence fights are all in official updates. Early Access buyers are effectively funding the bridge from "one good loop" to "a survival game with a progression spine".
If you want a finished game, wait for 1.0. If you want to learn the systems while the wiki and the community are still small, Q4 2026 is the moment.
How this page will be updated
When FakeFish announces the exact date, this page gets it within a day, along with the launch price and the pre-load status. When Early Access ships, we will publish verified pages for:
- The full engine upgrade tree with costs
- Every weapon and its damage values
- The complete enemy bestiary
- Carriage and station build costs
- Cooking and the mess workstation

FAQ
When does Frostrail launch in Early Access? Q4 2026, according to the Steam store page. No specific day has been announced, and the October 2026 demo is separate from the Early Access build.
How much will Frostrail cost? Unknown. There is no price on the store page yet. The developers have only said pricing will be announced closer to release.
Will demo progress carry into Early Access? No statement has been made. The demo is a vertical slice with its own tutorial, and the Spring 2026 update describes progression being kept between levels in the campaign rather than between demo and release.
